Aldi recalls chicken products that could contain salmonella

Aldi has issued an urgent recall for some of its chicken products amid fears they could be contaminated with the food poisoning bug salmonella.

Anyone who has bought one of the items should not eat it, but instead return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

Aldi has recalled two frozen chicken products in its Roosters range.

Salmonella is a bacterial infection which can cause diarrhoea, fever and abdominal cramps within eight to 72 hours after eating contaminated food.

It can be serious if the infection spreads beyond the intestines or if the diarrhoea causes extreme dehydration.

The products which have been recalled are:

1.Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken

2.Roosters Breaded Poppin’ Chicken

All batches have the best before date of 25/05/2022.

The affected batch codes are:

L14720, L14820, L14920, L15020, L15120, L15320 and L16020.

More details have been published by the Food Standards Agency.

If you’ve bought one of the affected Roosters chicken products, do not eat them, as you may develop food poisoning.

Instead, you can return the products to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

If you have diarrhoea symptoms you should drink plenty of fluids – but avoid fizzy drinks or fruit juices.

Young children, the elderly and the vulnerable are most at risk from complications.
