FICCI & FSSAI webinar on Scaling up Wheat Flour Fortification on Oct 8

FICCI, in collaboration with FSSAI, is organising a National Webinar on Scaling up Wheat Flour/Maida Fortification in Food Processing Industry on October 8, 2020, from 3-4.15 pm.

Arun Singhal, CEO, FSSAI, will deliver the keynote address during the session.

The objective of the event is to explore the challenges as well as opportunities associated with fortification and roadmap for promoting fortification to curb malnutrition in the country.

Fortification is recognised as an effective and sustainable solution towards improving the nutritional status of the population across the country.

Providing nutrients without altering the consumption pattern is the major benefit of the staple food fortification.

Wheat being a staple commodity is widely consumed by Indians particularly in wheat growing areas of north, west and central India.

To improve the nutritional status of mass population, wheat flour is selected as a suitable tool for upgrading the nutritional status.

WHO also recommended flour fortification as a preventive food-based approach to improve micronutrient status of population over time that can be integrated with other interventions in the efforts to reduce vitamin and mineral deficiencies when it can be identified as public health problems.

With this objective, FICCI is organising the webinar to highlight crucial role of fortification and strategies for scaling up fortification.

The event according to FICCI would be very useful for FBOs who are using wheat flour/refined wheat flour as an ingredient in their products, wheat flour / refined wheat manufacturers, wheat flour/refined wheat flour millers, besides senior experts in the field of R&D and quality, nutritionist and development partners.
