A number of supermarkets have this week issued product recalls on cheese, chocolate, sweeteners and more over fears the items could result in alergic reactions or worse.
Lidl is recalling its Simply Mature White Cheddar as it may contain pieces of plastic – making it unsafe to eat.
Waitrose & Partners is recalling Waitrose No.1 Dominican Republic Milk Chocolate 49% because some products contain almonds, hazelnuts and soya which are not mentioned on the label.
Lidl iis also recalling more batches of its Cologran Sucralose sweetener tablets because aspartame is not mentioned on the label – making the product a possible health risk to sufferers of phenylketonuria.
The Food Standards Agency issued the warnings across several supermarkets, with even milk being recalled at one major grocer.
It said some of the products contain ingredients that are not mentioned on the label, while others could contain harmful bacteria or other contamination.
